You moved for the job or the program, your friends are a time zone away, and the weekends are long. A companion is a local to spend an afternoon with: a walk through the neighbourhoods you have not figured out yet, the market everyone mentions, the ramen place worth the line. It is company, paid by the hour, strictly platonic, and it does not pretend to be more.
What happens
Write what you want from the day when you book — “show me the parts of the city people actually use” is a fine plan. The companion reads it and accepts or declines. Meet somewhere public, which in a new city is the whole point anyway.
Two to four hours covers a good walk and a coffee. Whatever the two of you buy along the way — lunch, the market, a streetcar — is yours to cover on the spot. Profiles list the languages a companion speaks, and browse can filter by language.
Before in-person opens in your city, the “Show me your world” video date is the same idea at a distance: a companion walks their neighbourhood on camera and you pick the turns. It is open everywhere once browsing opens, and it is a reasonable way to learn a city you have not moved to yet.
On the booking form this is an in-person date with a plan like “A walk through the companion’s city — neighbourhoods, a market, coffee”, or a virtual date with the “Show me your world” activity.

How booking works
Everyone on the site passes an 18+ age check before they can message anyone. Companions write their own profiles and set their own hourly rate.
You pick a companion, a date and a length. For an in-person date you also write the plan — where, when, what you have in mind — and the companion reads it before accepting. They can decline, and you are never charged for a request they turn down.
A chat opens the moment you send the request, so the two of you can settle the details; it closes when the date is done.
First in-person meetings happen in public places — a café, a restaurant, a busy street — and either person can end any date at any time. Every message is screened, and a person reads every report.
What it costs
The price is their hourly rate times the hours you book, plus a 20% platform fee, shown as one total before you confirm — a two-hour date at $40 an hour, as an example, is $80 to the companion and $96 on your card. They keep 100% of their rate; the fee never comes out of it.
Your card is authorized when you book and charged after the date has happened. If it is declined or cancelled first, the hold is released and nothing is charged. More than 48 hours before the date, a full refund; 24 to 48 hours, 75% back; 2 to 24 hours, 50% back; inside two hours or a no-show, none. Our fee comes back in full at every step, and a companion cancelling is always a full refund.

Is this a way to make friends?
It is company for an afternoon, honestly priced. Some people rebook the same companion because it is a good way to spend a Saturday; what it is not is a route to anything romantic, and a companion who is asked for that reports it.
My city isn’t open for in-person yet — what can I do?
Join the waitlist for your city so we know where to recruit, and book a video date in the meantime; those are open everywhere the day browsing opens. In-person opens at 8 approved local companions in a city, and the fastest way to get there is knowing someone who would be good at it.
Will they speak my language?
Profiles list the languages each companion speaks, and browse can filter by language. Say in your plan if there is one you would rather the afternoon happen in.
